Meeting E-rate requirements for Internet Safety and Reporting
Starting in July, all school districts receiving E-rate funding will have to meet the stipulations of the Protecting Children in the 21st Century Act. Atomic Learning has the resources necessary to meet the Internet Safety requirements for E-rate, in addition to the reporting tools you will need to track student participation.
To help support schools in addressing those requirements, we’re compiling all these resources in a Spotlight page that will be available for the 2012-2013 school year. To help in your planning, we wanted to share the resources that will be included with our customers before the Spotlight page launches.
The FCC has not issued specific guidance as to what schools are required to teach their students. To maintain local control, schools are allowed to choose which lessons and resources are best suited to the needs of their schools. The resources included will help schools meet those requirements; each district may choose which are most applicable to the needs of their students.
Spotlight Goals
A recent EdWeek article quoted a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, as saying:
I predict the common-core standards will fail, unless we can do massive professional development
for teachers."
The same article stated:
Fewer than half of districts planned to provide professional development aligned to the standards
during the current school year."
Wondering where to even begin? Atomic Learning's Atomic TechCore resource includes professional development planning tools and training, including specific Common Core teacher professional development and lesson guides.

Recently, two Atomic Learning customers shared examples of how they're leveraging the Custom Training feature within their districts. View this webinar recording to see specific ideas from Francis Howell School District in St. Charles, MO and Renton School District 403 in Renton, WA.
